4 Stars great starter system
We are really pleased with this Home Theater in a Box system. The smaller speakers aren’t as noticeable on our walls, yet put out plenty of sound. Our room is very open with high ceilings, and we just wanted a little boost on volume and quality of sound which we got from this total package.We had to find mounts for the speakers that we could adjust, but other than that we are really happy.I would recommend this system for anyone wanting mold to medium sound projection. Great buy for the money.

2 Stars Just didn’t do it for me…
I wasn’t impressed at all with the quality of this HTIB. My first problem was that I couldn’t get the HDMI to work. I plugged in my cable box and couldn’t get the video or audio to work. I checked all my connections and still nothing. Finally I plugged my cable box in using component cables and was able to get audio and video.

I already knew at this point I had to return it since I have several things I needed to plug in and simply using component connections wouldn’t work for me, but I thought I’d test out the sound anyway. I’ve got a fairly large living room that extends out to the kitchen and I found out that the subwoofer was not strong enough to fill the room. This would probably be a good system for a small bedroom or a game room, but I would not recommend it if you have a large living room and are looking for that ultimate home theater experience. I decided I’ll just spend a little more money and get a unit that has an HDMI repeater rather than having to deal with component and optical cables.

4 Stars Does the job
This was my first surround sound purchase so the review is based on the basics. So far I’ve had this system for a couple of months and have no real complaints. The sound is a definite upgrade to my TV speaker and it is relatively easy to use.

Since this was my first setup I was a little worried about the complexity seeing as I had a DVD player (component), blu-ray player (HDMI), cable/DVR box (component) and a Wii (composite) and I wasn’t sure how that would all work. It was fairly easy to get set up, it took a few hours to get the speaker wire cut, trimmed and plugged in and the components wired up. When I turned it on there was no sound so I had to go back and check connections and such, after doing that I had sound. Kind of. The Blu-ray ws hooked up via the HDMI pass through and an toslink cable and I could not get any picture or sound no matter what I tried. Eventually I gave up and hooked up the player directly to the TV. When I did that I have sound and picture so all is well. I had the same problem with the Wii. Hooked it up on the front of the receiver as the instructions said but no picture or sound. Since the TV speaker is fine for the Wii games I have I hooked it directly into the TV.

Once I had everything working I was a bit confused about why when using the DVD and cable box I didn’t have the full range of sound selections, just pro logic or 2 channel. What I didn’t realize was that I needed optical cables to get the full range. After I connected them up with coaxial and toslink cables all was good. I really can’t complain about the sound. It’s a hige step up from the TV speaker, the sub sounds great and doesn’t need to be turned up that high and generally I’m pleased. I’m not so pleased with the component switching though. When run though the receiver the picture from the cable box was awful. The colors were off, there was a lot of noise in the picture and generally made watching the TV an unpleasant experience. I thought it was the cable from the receiver to the TV because it was a cheap one but I didn’t have the same problem with the DVD player which was also going through the same cable. Once again I unhooked the box from the receiver and hooked it directly to the TV.

Since I got the system for sound rather than convenience or video processing I’m not really going to mark the system down too much for the issues I had but if those are things that are essential to you then maybe think twice about this system. I like the fact that it’s essentially a home theater in a box but is really just a pre-packaged component system. So when I need to and can afford to I can swap out individual pieces of the system rather than having to ditch the whole thing. I would say if you are looking for an inexpensive, entry level, component based sound system then give this a look.

5 Stars Wonderful
I bought this stereo receiver to replace a 30 year old Pioneer SA-530 Stereo amplifier. This amplifier had mixed reviews but I was in a bind and needed a stereo receiver and this is what I could quickly buy. I was worried it was going to be money down the drain, but so far it is wonderful. The first thing you notice when you get it out of the packaging is the fact that it looks very nice, and all the buttons are quite easy to use. Also an added bonus is that it has a speaker selector for a pair of A and B. This feature use to be standard but many modern receivers lack it. The FM receiver seemed fine but I don’t use it I only tried it for a few mins, and the AM receiver I didn’t even bother with but I am willing to bet it works fine though I don’t care. I am also very happy that it has a Phono in many new receivers don’t have this either. I live in a dorm however and don’t have a record player here so I can not say how well it works. Now to the stuff I use and mostly LOVE. The CD input works great its plugged into a high end Pioneer CD player from the early 80’s. The sound coming from the two is nothing short of mind blowing I am amazed at this price. I also have its hooked up to my xbox which sounds fine for movies and games. The thing I use most however is my external Hi-Fi audio card into the Sherwood’s AUX input. Once again the sound is amazing. It’s very crisp. This amp has all the power you could ask for it can deliver clear sound on its highest volume with full bass on. It is putting out peaks of well over 150 Watts without problem. To give this unit a worthy comparison, I have a Carver Cube at home hooked up to a Cambridge Audio pre-amp, and while the sound of this unit is not as good as that stereo, it does come close. Unless you need the best of the best this Amp will give you everything you need. Well worth the meager $100 price tag. This unit is sturdy and delivers high quality audio even at excessive volumes.

PS the remote works wonderfully and is very easy to use

5 Stars Good stereo amp.
Got this item a few days ago. Have it hooked up to my t.v. and Zune dock. This is my first componet system. Owned alot of mini systems that looked fancy but didnt perform great. Have this hooked up to some Sony 3way bookshelf speakers I got from Amazon for like 100 buks. The sound is great for movies which is mostly what I use it for. Ii do most of my music lisning at work on headphones. Great starter amp. Only complaint is that it dosent have a sub output. Planning on getting a pair of 15” 3way speakers for my system because I can tell this is a good amp.

I purchased this item in June. For the price I have been very happy with the unit. It handles my 2 Dvd players, HD stero TV, and VCR nicely. I bought this unit as a secondary unit for my kitchen and I find myself more than pleased with the sound quality, using it for music cd’s more than I though I ever would. The tuner also works quite well, and we are in a bad area for AM&FM reception, even on some of my much more expensive equipment. If you need a decent receiver at an inexpensive price its a good product.

5 Stars More bang for the buck!
I have had my RX 4109 for two days now and I have to say that I am very very impressed with everything Sherwood makes! I grew up with one as a kid in the late 60’s to late 70’s and ours was a stellar performer. Now I have an 8600 from 1966 and a new RX 4109. I had to get a new receiver because my vintage Marantz kept going on the fritz and since i have never had a single problem with any other Sherwood receivers I have owned I started some research. I read all the reviews I could and for what I do this is the ticket! it is simple but powerful enough to drive My Acoustic Research bookshelf speakers. The sound is very clean and uncolored. At first I thought well the Marantz has a warmer sound but then I realized that is what tone controls are for. you can get this just as warm but you can also have it flat as can be. Right on Sherwood!

2 Stars poorly designed and made, but pumps out pretty good sound
I bought the Sherwood RX-4109 back in Dec 2007 to replace a 25 year old receiver. The Sherwood died some 22 days later (would not power up). The replacement failed yesterday (no sound). I have given up on Sherwood.

To its credit, I thought the receiver generated fairly good sound. But its overall design and user interface were clunky, and the FM tuner abysmal.

Bottom line: with two failed units within 18 months I cannot recommend the Sherwood despite its very attractive price.

5 Stars Makes the Whole Room a Sweet Spot
When my family, husband, twin daughters and me, decided to move from Montreal to Austin, we had some major decisions to make. What to take, what to sell. We had a couple top flight stereo systems, a 5.1 surround sound system to beat the band, my camera gear, — I had “L” everything, three bodies and lots of other terrific lenses — and a decade’s worth of pretty nice stuff that we’d accumulated. We were pretty well off, but not rich, not even upper middle class. This move was a big deal for us. My husband had a new job, but what about me? I was losing a pretty good income.

But Austin, what a wonderful city. And it’s warm. We decided to go for it, so we sold everything we could, reaped a small fortune on eBay. So bye bye, beautiful sounding music, bye bye my cameras and the gear I loved.

That was a couple years ago and we’re doing okay now, better than okay. We have back a new big screen TV, a new surround sound system, but we still have beaucoup de rooms that need good music and on a THELMA AND LOUISE type driving trip with my friend Katie I discovered the Bose Wave Radio System. We stopped at the outlet stores at Woodburn, a city south of Portland, Oregon and when I walked into the Bose store I was blown away. I listened to everything and when I got back to Houston I made some major purchases, it’s nice to have some money again.

I have this system in my kitchen, on top of the refrigerator, and it fills the room with a warm sound with just enough, but not too much bass. There is no single sweet spot, no single place in my kitchen where you get better stereo, the whole kitchen is a sweet spot. I bought three Bose systems for my home and I love them all, use them all. I’d never thought of myself as being a fangirl before, but I guess I’m a bose fangirl now. I can’t help it, I listen to these systems all day, everyday, whether I’m cooking in the kitchen, working on my laptop in the dining room or working in my dark room. They are a little pricey yes, but I think they are worth the money.

I had one and was seduced by, ” it sounds better than a stereo many times

its size”. What rubbish. It sounds “so so” and nothing at all special

I used mine in the UK and USA and the classical FM channels sounded really flat and lifeless. It is all plastic which looks crappy after a while. My BOSE was white in colour and turned a pleasing tone of old ivory. If you want a great sounding small system try the TIVOLI Mk 2 with the CD player. Nicely built with wood and a warm pleasant sound. You cannot get great sound with a mini set of speakers. Thats fact. I now own a analog tube stereo and cd player with Klipsh speakers. That is music!

Bose Wave Music System – Platinum White

The Bose Wave Radio is a joy from the first instance of approaching the opening of the normally dreaded packing. There were no extra fillers in the compact box which opened without the usual hacking, tearing and #@*+# and the radio lifted easily, with the supplemental features in full view.

THEN–a simple user friendly setup which resulted in glorious sound! The design of the radio is superb, resting on a small table and adding class to my hum-drum life. This well designed, well researched product is a tribute to the Bose company. Thank you, Granny Dee, San Diego, California

4 Stars I almost bought this to find common ground with the rest of humanity
I laugh at and mock the Bose company both on Amazon and in real life among living, breathing human beings. This shocks some, offends others, and perhaps mildly annoys the rest. “Bose” is used by the masses swimming in disposable income to mean “good audio” as “Coke” is used to mean bubbly sweet brown liquid. I myself have fairly cheap audio products, except for some expensive (by non-audiophile standards) speakers I bought without any good reason a long time ago. But the point is, I grew up in a home with good audio equipment. I recall when my brother once saved up his money and bought some fashionable Bose monitors to replace the cheap speakers that came with an all-in-one stereo he’d got hold of. Problem was, when we hooked them up, they sounded worse than what they replaced–thin, lacking in bass, clarity, presence, whatever. Compared to my father’s various speaker pairs, they were absolute trash. He doggedly used them for years because he’d spent a few hundred bucks on them; however, and all his music sounded like it was coming across the world’s loudest AM radio.

And over the years it seemed every time I encountered a Bose product–attached to computers, in cars, in living rooms–it sucked either in actual performance, or was was ridiculous in concept, such as the strangely shaped $250 3-CD changer the company markets. But “Bose” rolled on like a CEO from early in this decade, living the high life and laughing at the discrepancy between performance and pay. And the shareholders, as it were, were fine with that, while I remained a sort of Nietzschean outsider, gnashing in my teeth in lonely superiority alone in my garret.

But something has happened recently that cracked my seething hatred of the Bose company, and given me hope that someday I might be reconciled with the rest of mankind: I heard a Bose product that I liked quite a bit, twice. It was this radio at the home of a friend and colleague. Although I normally only listen to emo, it was tuned to a classical station, and there was not one thing really wrong with how it sounded. Because of the modest size and the nameplate, I expected not much at all, and instead heard something strongly adequite for eating and drinking to. It sounded better than my brother’s old Bose speakers, that’s for sure. The bass was OK, the sound was clear and balanced as it echoed around the room. It sounded about as good as hooking up a compact CD player to a Peavey combo guitar amp, like I did it long ago. Likewise, from across the room, there was no clear sense of listening to stereo, but you can’t have everything, specially when it’s a Bose.

I briefly thought about buying this thing partly out of perversity and partly to put in my office and probably would have if it had been about $300 to $350 cheaper. But if you have money to blow, it’s not a bad product at all.

1 Star disposable stereo..
A friend owns this “system” and the CD player was skipping. He took it in for service and the tech wouldn’t touch it saying “replace it”, it’s disposable stereo. Bose spends millions advertising this hunk of plastic knowing full well that the majority of purchasers don’t really understand how little they are getting for their money. For $500 you can do a whole lot better folks. Friends don’t let friends buy Bose.

1 Star Connection nightmare
If your TV or amplifier doesn’t have 6 spare audio outputs or you don’t have a couple of hours to strip the insulation off of a wad of speaker wire, these might not be the speakers for you. The nasty surprise awaiting me when I opened the package was that they’re all individual units with 0 interconnection. Yup, nothing in the subwoofer connects to the center speaker or satellite speakers. I was deceived by the word “system” which implies interconnectedness. So back they go…to be replaced by something that connects with one cord to my new Sony Bravia TV. By the way, the instructions assume that your TV or amplifier has a special RCA output for subwoofer…which mine lacks.

4 Stars Yamaha, Pure Quality
The sound on my 60+” rear view projection television died, so I researched for days before I decided to purchase the Yamaha NS-SP1800BL speaker package. They appeared just as the pictures revealed and the speakers arrived as scheduled.

I have an enormous living room and the crystal clear highs and lows of these speakers fill the house! The sound quality of these easy to function, attractive Yamaha’s brought my television back to life! Movie theaters can’t compete with the quality of sound I receive watching cable and DVD’s on a Blu-ray system in the comfort of my own home. I’m always grateful to make a purchase when the quality of an item exceeds the cost and I believe you will be too.

I love this sleek soundbar. It looks very stylish along with my plasma tv. The sound projection is just right for me, since I do not prefer very loud bsss while watching tv or movies. And, actually if I adjust the subwoofer and bass components of this system, it can be very powerful. So, if you are looking for a soundbar that delivers quality sound within a small package, this soundbar would be perfect.

5 Stars The best sound bar for this price.
I looked at many sound bar systems in the sub $200 price range before I landed on this one. This works great. I use it for music or movies off my computer, but I also use it for my 3 video game systems and DVD’s. This system simulates 5.1 pretty well. Of course it’s not perfect, but what this system lacks in perfect surround sound, it gains in other areas. For one it is much cheaper than any good 5.1 system that I have seen. Second, it is much more portable and easier to set up. Because it is simply a bar that you put in front of you, all you need to do is add power and some inputs and your solid. This contrasts the tedious work of placing and hanging all those little speakers with those ugly wires all over the place. Point is that this works for me. If you’re looking for a perfect 5.1, don’t get this item. But if you’re looking for a good system that will give you good, clean sound, good bass, has some swell settings and can roughly simulate surround sound, then this should be for you.

1 Star Disappointing
When buying the Sharp HTSB200 sound bar I knew that it didn’t have a lot of power.

BUT I had expected to be able to hear it without the speakers sounding like …. I am at a loss for words.

I guess “ready to blow” is a good description for the lack of a better one.

Suffice it to say that this unit would not even be suitable for a dorm room.

However, it might be OK for a closet.

Needless to say, I returned the unit the very next day.

I then bought a Coby DVD988 DVD Home Theater Soundbar System.

Purchased this thru manufacturer. Rec’d it several days later and hooked it up to my Sharp 42″ T.V. Hookup was easy as 1,2,3. But the sound is actually no better then what comes out of the front speakers on the televison. For me it was a waste of time and money, although Sharp did agree to take it back.

5 Stars Great product for the $, would buy again
Ordered these speakers in January and received them a few weeks later due to a backorder. These were step 1 of my plan to upgrade my old Sony 5.1 system I purchased in 2001. So far I am really pleased with my purchase! The build quality and sound are MUCH better than the speakers in my old setup. I know they aren’t sounding their best (haven’t updated the receiver yet) but still they provide a very noticeable improvement. I currently only have them hooked up to run 5.1 with my PS3 or XBox 360. I cant’ stress enough how much of an improvement these speakers were over my tiny, outdated, Sony speakers. If given the chance I would order them all over again. Now I just need to get my receiver!

On a side note they were a little larger than my wife expected, and she had a hard time adjusting to them being on the entertainment center. If size is a concern for you, I would advise grabbing a measuring tape and making sure they will fit your room setup.

This speaker system is outstanding. I hooked it up to my Onkyo (5.1) receiver and it blows you away. Movie dialogues come out clear and when the fight scene begins hang on to your chair, I am saying goodbye to the $10 movie tickets. Overall the base is superb, sometimes you don’t even need the subwoofer. As for music the radio sounds great (dependent on signal) and the mp3 player even better. The speakers are on the larger side, but if you don’t care about that, go for it. Best value for your money.

The product was the best I could find for the money and have not been at all dissappointed…. They sound great and are big enough to supply a full range of sound.. I was a skeptic when it came to a 7.1 speaker system for the cost after looking at the price of all others… luckily I came across these in a review right before buying a 5.1 system…. I’m running these from a Denon 789 Receiver… I hope this helps someone with making a decision…. I know how hard it is to buy just speakers and worry if you are getting the right stuff.

5 Stars Would buy again; excellent quality for the price
For the price of these speakers, five stars is a rating well deserved. These Onkyo speakers are well constructed and solid. The sound quality is excellent when watching movies. When listening to music, I must admit that I am not as impressed with the sound quality. This is still not a complaint considering the price of these speakers. I do continue to be impressed with their quality of sound as a home theater system. If you’re looking for the best of the best sound, you’d be advised to look and pay for high end speakers. If you’re looking for close to high end sound on a budget, then these are your speakers.

A few extra points:

The bass sounds life like. Many times have I looked out of my window looking for a truck in my driveway only to realize the bass has fooled me again.

The speakers seem to handle the range of any of the sound effects thrown their way.

The speakers look sharp, and they seem to be of solid construction.

Oh, did I mention that these speakers can’t be beat for their price?

My prior system did not have a powered subwoofer and had a total of six speakers. The additional two side speakers, which my audio system can handle, makes the sound of movies awesome.

1 Star was great when it worked
I bought this system for my husband for father’s day last year. it worked great for about 4 months and then started acting up. the dvd player would just shut off in the middle of watching a movie. this happened for about 3 or 4 days and then the dvd player just died out and wouldn’t turn on at all. and i can’t even return it b/c my husband threw away the receipt without reading it first to see it was for the dvd player. i’ve never had issues with sony products before so its really frustrating that this dvd player died out in such a short period of time. especially for this price.

3 Stars Decent, but not the bees knees.
As a musician, and a recording engineer, I have some well-trained ears. While this system would sound great to someone who’s never owned a surround sound system before, if you’re someone who’s got an ear for sound, then this system will be a little disappointing. While it does provide decent 5.1 sound, it seems to be lacking in the proper amount of head room required to get the job done. And while the rear speakers are “technically” wireless, you still have to wire them up to a little gizmo that has to be plugged into the wall. So if you were hoping to wire these rear speakers up to your wall without having to worry about wires, then I’m sorry to let you down.

It is nice that the system comes with a 5 disc DVD player, and it does it’s thing, the only annoyance would be that it takes quite a while for it to switch between discs (I’d estimate 20 to 30 seconds), which doesn’t seem like much, but if you have 5 DVDs in there and you’re looking for a particular one, it can get annoying real fast.

The sound of the system itself is good but not great. The rear speakers actually perform better than the front speakers, which is a little unusual for 5.1 systems. The woofer does it’s thing, but it isn’t the best woofer I’ve ever heard, and seems to fall apart on the lowest of frequencies (in the 20Hz to 35Hz range). The DVD player can automatically adjust (with the supplied microphone) or manually adjust the output level of each speaker. This is where another annoyance with the subwoofer comes in. With some things movies and music the woofer will either sound too weak or too heavy, no matter how things are adjusted. This is what I discovered watching a DVD of some Sarah Silverman standup. The system sounded far superior however on more finely tuned productions, such as the newer Star Wars flicks, and V for Vendetta.

One thing that certainly seemed irritating was the remote, which seemed to be laid out in a nonsensical manner. And another thing that bothered me is there isn’t any A/B’ing of video you’re watching, as well as no zoom. Not the most useful of things to have, but one I’m missing now that I don’t have it.

Setting the system up wasn’t very difficult, but it was a bit time consuming. I couldn’t see how it could be done in an hour. It took me about 2 and a half hours with the wife helping. The wires thankfully are color coded to help eliminate any confusion. One odd duck that comes with this guy is a separate box that you can take anywhere in your home and hear what your system is playing. Kinda useless for me, unless I’m watching some stand up and need to use the little boy’s room and I don’t feel hitting the pause button. However, I could see how this would be handy if you’d like to hear the evening news while you’re washing the dishes, but you don’t want to turn up the sound on your TV so loud that it’ll wake the neighbors.

In short, I can’t recommend this product, or not recommend it. It really depends on what your sound needs are. If you like mainstream action flicks, and you’d like to upgrade to your first 5.1 system, then this would be a great buy. If your a sound connoisseur who is expecting superior sound, then this won’t be your cup of tea.

5 Stars Exceeds all expectations
This product exceeded all my expectations. I bought this system because my wife & I are both having hearing problems and have had to turn the sound way up on our TV. I thought maybe with rear speakers we would be able to hear better and not have to turn up the volume so loud that when the commercials came on the walls vibrated (or so it seemed). Before I even hooked up the rear speakers I tried the system out and could not believe the difference in sound quality. I could turn the volume way down and still clearly hear and understand what was being said on my TV. Unbelievable difference. I then hooked up the rear speakers and was even more impressed. I know this isn’t the most expensive system out there but it sure does a fantastic job for the money. I’d highly recommend this system.

5 Stars AMAZING SPEAKERS
I am so happy with these speakers. I am using them with an ONKYO 606 receiver, and they pound. The clarity is amazing, and the sub is unreal. The price is amazing, and they look stylish. I was looking for a speaker that was small like a bose speaker, and I imagined these speakers to be a little smaller, they are about 13 inches high, and 6 inches wide. With a universal mount they fit perfectly on my wall. Happy customer. Amazons shipping was great too.

5 Stars Good Sound
I have these speakers connected to a Sony STR-DH800 receiver. The sound coming out of the speakers is crisp and clear. The sub woofer is a little on the big side, so if you have a small room you may want to find a decent sized place for it. The speakers are about 14 – 15 inches tall and the center speaker comes with a little stand which allows you to tilt the speaker for better listening pleasure. Mounting the speakers on the wall was easy, no need for brackets and the such. Just 1 or 2 screws for each speaker did the trick. I’m happy with these speakers they fit exactly what I needed them for.

4 Stars These are keepers, however they are gigantic!
First impressions! GIGANTIC speakers, did not expect them to be that big! Nice and glossy but somebody who cares for their walls to look nice, you can back off right here…. Because the quality of these speakers isnt really breath taking that you would want to give up the look of your home.

Well, now the real deal with the speaker forget that they are big! They just sound according to your receiver! So I have had Onkyo 506, Sony 820, Onkyo 606. They sounded the best with Onkyo 606.

I cannt really speak much about the quality of any other speakers but these are keepers for what you pay!!

If you are an advanced user, I am sure you had listened to better ones.

I am just convinced for the fact that I paid only 300$ and the quality is just fine!.

Looks great but more importantly sounds great with my Onkyo 7.1 Receiver. Turns any type of sound into great sound, no need to spend thousands on products like Bose, just use automatic setup on your Onkyo receiver and it will maximize your speakers for your room, then just sit back and enjoy!

I bought this system the other day and got it al installed this last weekend. I think the speakers sound very good. THe size is hard to tell in the pic but they are a little bigger than i expected but they mounted up nice so no complaints. I have them paired with Sony STRDG720 receiver and i havent done the auto cal yet but they already sound great. The sub can rattle the walls and the surround sound is very nice. A big upgrade for froma a very cheap system. Would definetly recommend to others.

4 Stars Great bang for the buck
This product delivers everything it said it would and for the price you can’t beat the performance, sound, and ease of setup. A few quirks have been found in the 8 months I have used mine. The volume will go all the way up or down on occasion. You need to power the unit down for a minute or two then restart it. Also, I tried to do a firmware update per the mfr instructions but it didn’t work. If you have a Harmony remote, you can’t place a D-In button on it easily. If you own the Harmony, you’ll find out what a pain that is. But these are all minor issues for the price point. I would have spent over 2K for the separate componants. Sure the sound and inputs would have been better, but for a budget, this system rocks.

This system was exactly what I expected. A Blue Ray disc player with 5.1 wireless surround sound. The system was very easy to install and works flawlessly with my Panasonic Viera HDTV.

The only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star rating is the user’s manual is maddening to use. It is not very clear and it takes a lot of experimenting (trial & error) to figure out how to properly control the system with the remote.

But it sounds great!

We have had this system for about a month now and have had no problems of any kind. Many of the good points and bad points of other reviewers; we found to be true and were therefore no surprise to us.

Delivery was flawless and the shipping package was in fine shape when it arrived.

Very well packed by the factory, there was no damage and unpacking was easy.

The Plus’s

+As noted by other reviewers, the sound quality is very good and the power is fine for movies and television. However, this is not a high power stereo and will not replace one.

Some had complained that it did not have enough power for them but I think it’s fine for what it is designed to do. If you want to blast your favorite metal band, then buy a stereo.

+Other people found the instructions to be inadequate and lacking. I did find them to be somewhat minimal however, the information was sufficient to meet my needs and I would say don’t let that be a concern.

+This system will play anything and it has the AM/FM radio and CD functions as well.

+There are many many combinations of settings on this system and although I have not gone through everything, I have been pleased with the results.

The Minuses

-It is inconceivable that on a system of this complexity that there is NO eject button on the remote! This is completely absurd. It must be because there is just soooo much stuff on this remote that they must have simply ran out of space! This really annoying.

-Some have complained that the volume knob light is too bright in a darkened room but, there is a “dim” setting for that too so, that is not a concern.

-The speaker wires for the speakers are simply too short. In a large room you are limited to the short speaker wires and this can really be a problem if you have to “make a place for it” somewhere in the middle of a wall or something. The speaker wires have a special connector on them and modifying them from the start would be expensive, cumbersome, and unacceptable. Just remember that the connections between the central unit in the front are limited and the wires from the little surround amplifier and the rear speakers is limited as well.

Overall I think you will be very happy with the service and this system.

1 Star Do not buy this.
When setting up speakers,color coded wires where all wrong to ports, when tested it showed white was not white and so on. Put wires into as suggested by test and it worked ok, but no definition on speakers. Called in local fix it guy told to call Panosonic.Called Pano 45 min wait and then told they would call back tomorrow. I waited in morning no call, but they called in afternoon when I was out and left a message,that had no reference of whom to call back.Called back waited 30 min and was disc. Called Back another 45min wait amd was told to call repair shop and bring it to them, which is 45 miles away.Pano did not try to help.So being disgusted with this company I will retire this system and find and buy from local dealer.Oh, and lights that tell you when its on went out also. Junk, maybe not, support not there at all. Michael Orlando

4 Stars REally like this player but having a problem with the setup
I purchased this unit to complement our new 42 inch Panasonic HD TV. It displays Blu Ray Discs and other formats beautifully. The surround sound complements both the movies and the TV sound. However, I cannot get the TV to recognize the Blu Ray setup using the HDMI cable port. The TV recognizes the composite cable and the component cable but not the HDMI. I’ve spend hours pouring over the directions trying different setups with no success. The manual is very scanty, and not user friendly. IN addition, the Viera Link is really very useless. Any ideas as to why I cant get the HDMI cable connection to work ? Otherwise we are very happy with this unit.
